Remembering Orlando

The past week few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. First, I was following the story on the rape case and sentencing of Brock Turner along with re-reading multiple times extremely touching and moving letter of the victim. I was enraged with anger and injustice. But I was also filled with strength along with an incredible strong woman who did not deserve everything she went though. Who showed that it should be important to talk about issues and to not just pretend that there are no issues. That it should be equally important to educate young girls as well as young boys and that together we can bring awareness.

And now, the ultimate chaos and tragedy of the worst and deadliest mass shooting in US history, which took place in Orlando at the night club on Sunday morning. It is such a brutal attack on our values. It is an attack to the very heart of our society-the back-stubbing for our society where freedom is not taken for granted and it should not be taken for granted.

Voices are meant to be heard, and we hear your voices. You are not alone. It is hard to find words to describe but after all, kindness and love should win. I was not present during terrifying events but I can feel the pain of victims, the horror of wounded people, cries of mothers and fathers to rise together against hate, and after all, great commemorate of first responders, survivors helping wounded, surgeons at the hospital and support around the country and the world in the memory of the lost lives of innocent and respect to the families.

I am astonished and outraged, speechless and terrified, hopeless and saddened. Is there a place where it is SAFE? Have we forgotten what it takes to be safe at any public place? To not be afraid to take kids to school, to celebrate at the club without fear, to go to the movie theatre, to attend sporting events. Right now, we need to respect victims and families of victims. We need time to grief.

Such attacks affect everyone. Those events touch the very core of our communities, our friends, and our kids. It is a direct threat to the society for the better and safer future of the nation. The most hurting is the fact that person walked into the store, purchased “legally” and without any trouble an assault riffle, walked out of the store and killed 49 innocent souls. It is devastating. It is so

I was puzzled about the right and wrong. It is disappointing to me that it all happened in the midst of political war and upcoming presidential elections. I eventually turned off the news as there is no place for such horrifying events to be used by politicians to secure their positions, and to argue their points.

There is no right and wrong because when it comes to the death of innocent people orientation, religion, gender, nationality should not matter. It is not easy to talk about what happened in Orlando but without awareness and understanding we cannot fix it.

Logically, we know there is something that needs to be changed but it can only be achieved though unity of the humanity. Our voices matter. I talked to quiet few people that do not believe that something can be changed and think we are entitled to those huge profit making organizations. We are not and we need to stay firm in our decisions. We need to remember America is for people and for all people. Stay strong Orlando!
